Terre Haute Symphony Brings Decades of Pop to Tilson Auditorium

On March 29 at 7:30pm, the Terre Haute Symphony brings Broadway star Dan Domenech to Tilson Auditorium for Decades of Pop! Experience your favorite rock and pop songs by Queen, Journey, Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and more. The concert will be conducted by the THSO’s incoming Artistic Director-Designate, Roger Kalia, who will begin his tenure in July 2025 following David Bowden’s retirement. 

Dan Domenech is an American singer, director, and actor best known for his portrayal of Jason Dean in Heathers: The Musical, Drew in the Broadway musical Rock of Ages and a recurring guest appearance on Glee.  Domenech has also appeared in the pre-Broadway runs of WonderlandSister Act, National/International tours of RENT and Rock of Ages, and worked as associate choreographer for film and TV projects like Tropic Thunder, Step BrothersFame, The Academy Awards, and Emmys.  He made his directorial debut in summer of 2017 with the beta test of the revamped Heathers: The Musical before being mounted in its sold out run at The Other Palace Theater in London. 

Roger Kalia, Artistic Director-Designate

A native of New York State, Dr. Roger Kalia holds degrees from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, the University of Houston, and SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music.  Roger is currently the Music Director of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra (Evansville, IN), Symphony New Hampshire (NH), and Orchestra Santa Monica (CA).  He is also Co-Founder and Music Director of the Lake George Music Festival in upstate New York.  The 2024-25 season will complete his contract with Symphony New Hampshire.  

Roger has guest conducted many orchestras across the United States, including the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center, Chicago Sinfonietta, Louisiana Philharmonic, Hollywood Chamber Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, and the Long Beach Symphony among many others.  

Roger is not unknown to the musicians and audiences of Terre Haute - he was selected to conduct the THSO when David Bowden had a family conflict arise in 2022 and shared the podium with Dr. Bowden in April 2024.

Supper at the Symphony 

Make it a date night with a concert and Supper at the Symphony! Come to the concert early and enjoy a delectable three-course meal served in the Heritage Ballroom of Tirey Hall, right down the hall from Tilson Auditorium. The cash bar opens at 5:00pm, and dinner is served promptly at 5:30pm. Dinner reservations are $30 per person. Patrons will enjoy a salad to start and choose one entrée of either Basil Pesto Salmon, Lemon Parmesan Chicken, or Vegetarian Penne Pasta. Chicken and Salmon entrees are served with roasted red potatoes and lemon butter asparagus. Chocolate cake will be served for dessert. Concert Conversations 

Join Artistic Director-Designate, Roger Kalia, and vocalist Dan Domenech for an interview during Concert Conversations in the Heritage Ballroom in Tirey Hall on the campus of Indiana State University before the concert at 6:45pm. FREE to all concert ticket holders! 

Concert Tickets   

Patrons can purchase concert tickets by visiting www.thso.org or calling the Hulman Center at (812) 237-3737. Ticket prices for adults are $20, $50, and $65. Student and youth tickets are $6, $12, and $16. Prices do not include facility and venue fees. This concert is selling quickly, so do not wait to purchase your tickets! 

ISU Student Tickets 

ISU students receive FREE tickets to THSO concerts! Students can show their student ID at the Tilson Auditorium ticket window starting at 6:30pm before a concert to receive a free ticket. Only 100 tickets are available for ISU students. Students can get their tickets in advance by visiting the Hulman Center box office.  

Accessible Entrance & Parking 

Patrons can sign up at thso.org or call (812) 242-8476 to reserve a parking space in the Visitor Lot located at 7th and Larry Bird to take advantage of the THSO’s Accessible Parking Service that includes golf cart transportation from the lot to the elevator entrance of Tilson Auditorium.  

Patrons can also be dropped off behind Tirey Hall in the alley between Fairbanks and Tilson for direct access to the elevator or enter through the ground level at the front of Tilson Auditorium via the downstairs lobby. Signage will be posted at the venue with directions to the elevator. 

Parking   

Patrons may park in the Indiana State University Parking garage located at 750 Cherry Street for free between 4 PM and 11 PM on the day of the concert. This parking garage is located across the street from Tilson Auditorium.
